Tax Preparation Assistance * Federal/State Taxes: Enterprise Community Partners has begun providing Cuyahoga County residents a virtual tax preparation service in which clients will be able to receive online and over-the-phone assistance.

Face Mask Instruction/Information: This term will connect you with a a link to the Centers for Disease Control website with instructions on how to make and use a face mask. If you speak to a client who is in need of a face mask please record an unmet need for Face Masks (it is now in the list of unmet needs).

Food Pantries: There will be drive thru food pantries being hosted by Journey Church this Saturday, April 25th from 10:30am-12:30pm on Fulton Rd. and at Fairview Park High School.

 Legal Information Services * Employment Issues: a one day legal information telethon being hosted by the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland and Channel 5 WEWS tomorrow, Friday, April 24th from 4:00pm-6:30pm to answer legal questions regarding employment, housing, and benefits in relation to the pandemic

Stimulus Checks: Some individuals will need to register with the IRS in order to receive an extra $500 for dependents. See Refer for details.

Tenant Rights Information/Counseling: Cleveland Legal Aid Society's services can help tenants who are facing evictions or need help/advice for dealing with their landlords.  Because referrals for rent payment assistance have gone up significantly during the pandemic, and will continue to do so once restrictions on evictions are lifted, this is an important resource to remember.

Stimulus Checks: the IRS has added a way for those who have filed a tax return for 2018 and/or 2019 to check the status of their stimulus payment.

Certificates/Forms Assistance * Stimulus Checks: Enterprise Community Partners has told us that they are able to offer assistance to those who need to register with the IRS to receive their stimulus check. This service does not answer general questions related to the stimulus checks.

Cleaning Products, Food Vouchers, Formula/Baby Food, Medical Equipment Assistance, Personal/Grooming supplies, Rent Payment Assistance, Rental Deposit Assistance: Cuyahoga County Job and Family Services has expanded their assistance through their Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC) program to assist those affected by the pandemic. This is a new program in our database called PREVENTION, RETENTION AND CONTINGENCY (PRC) - COVID-19.

Food Pantries * Homebound: The Greater Cleveland Foodbank has added a food pantry delivery service for the homebound. Clients call to register at which time they will be asked a series of questions to determine if they are homebound to qualify for the service.  

Stimulus Checks: the IRS has added a way for those who have not filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019 to register to receive a stimulus check.

Legal Information Services * Employment Issues: The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland has added a "Worker Information Line" which aims to provide information on employment laws and benefits during the pandemic.

Public Restrooms: The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless has set up several portable bathrooms around Cleveland for the homeless population to use. The locations can be found in the service group under "How Service is Provided."

Food Pantries: The next drive-thru food distribution at the Greater Cleveland Foodbank will be held this Thursday (April 9th) from 2:00pm-6:00pm. The Foodbank is now asking that those who plan to use the food pantry pre-register on their website.

Disaster Declarations Information * Coronavirus: Ohio's Stay at Home order has been extended through May 1.

Grocery Ordering/Delivery: the Cleveland Department of Aging and the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging are able to work with seniors and those with disabilities to help find a grocery store that will deliver to them as well as suggest other food resources.

Alcohol Use Disorder Support Groups: Alcoholics Anonymous has a variety of online support groups available through their AA Grapevine program. 

Mental Health Related Support GroupsThe Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance has online support groups for mental health needs.

School Districts: The state government announced today that all schools will remain closed until at least May 1.

Stimulus Checks: the government approved the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), which will send money directly to Americans, greatly expand unemployment coverage and make a number of other changes. Details are both in Refer and available through the IVR.

Disease / Disability Information * Coronavirus: We've had some calls from people who are concerned that a coworker is continuing to come into work despite potential Coronovirus exposure or infection. These callers should be directed to alert their employer and call the ODH hotline.

Electric / Gas Service Payment Assistance: The Winter Crisis Program (formerly E-HEAP) has been extended to May 1st (previously would have ended March 31st)

Job Finding Assistance / Prejob Guidance: Cuyahoga County will be promoting 2-1-1 as a number to call to be linked to job opportunities.  Make sure to offer Ohio Means Jobs first. They are providing over the phone assistance with resumes and job finding for people without internet. Smaller job finding assistance programs may not be able to handle the recent influx of requests.

Small Business Development: On 3/31, Cuyahoga County will begin promoting a local helpline for small business owners impacted by COVID-19. This number that will link to us.  It will be a recorded IVR menu with an option for callers to talk to a live person, who will sit in an outside call center.  You may see something in local media that United Way 2-1-1 is helping with this effort, but you will not currently be handling the calls. (Some folks will inevitably dial 2-1-1 for this information. Some options are already in Refer, however the resource team will be adding additional information.)

Disaster Declarations Information * Coronavirus: With the Stay at Home order in place, Resource has added information and link to the state's FAQ to Refer.

Food Pantries: The National Guard has been dispatched to the Greater Cleveland Foodbank, but this is only to act as additional staffing on site.  There are no new National Guard food pantries.

Home Delivered Meals: Despite current rumors, the Food Bank does not currently have a service which provides direct deliveries of groceries or meals to seniors or other individuals.

TANF / OWF: Resource has added additional information to Refer about unemployment benefits, so please review that listing when you make a referral.

Federal Income Tax Information * General: The deadline to file a federal income tax return has been extended to July 15th, 2020.

Emergency Shelter Clerainghouses: Coordinated intake for Homeless Shelter in Cuyahoga County is now being done by phone only.  

Food Stamps / SNAP: The work requirements have been removed from the SNAP (food stamps) program.

Fundraising Campaigns * Coronavirus: United Way announced the Greater Cleveland COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund in collaboration with The Cleveland Foundation. It will be used to provide assistance to agencies. Individuals cannot apply.

Medicaid Applications: County JFS departments will not be processing Medicaid renewals at this time. Clients who are scheduled to renew will continue to receive Medicaid automatically.

Comprehensive Information and Referral: 2-1-1 Reactivated service to Coshocton, Crawford, Erie, Hancock, Van Wert and Wyandot counties

Tax Preparation Assistance: The Cuyahoga County VITA Tax Preparation Assistance program has been temporarily suspended. All appointments between 3/17 and 4/6 have been cancelled. If VITA service resumes after 4/6 then any existing appointments will be honored. The scheduling of new appointments has also been suspended.

Public Libraries: All Cleveland Public Library locations are closed until further notice.

Brown Bag Food Programs: The Cleveland school district will offer free grab-and-go lunches and breakfasts to anyone under 18 through Friday, April 3.

Utility Disconnection Protection: The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has suspended utility disconnections from regulated providers. Cleveland Public Power and the Cleveland Water Dept. have also put a stop on all disconnections. Neither order eliminates any payment obligations. Additionally, the Winter Reconnect Order has been extended to May 1.
