Patrick, a single dad of three young boys, was living in a condemned apartment building in Cleveland. Pipes were flooding the apartment, and holes in the roof were causing the inclement December weather to add to the water damage from top to bottom. Patrick contacted United Way 211, who then connected him to a United Way partner agency.
The case manager worked with Patrick to find a new, affordable apartment. The support also included one month’s rent deposit and a voucher for moving fees. The new rental was close to the boys’ school so they would avoid disruption and school absences.
