Services and programs that help people gain access to education, sports, and other cultural and artistic pursuits.

Education, Recreation and The Arts

2-1-1 keeps track of services related to community education, all levels of formal education, and academic and financial support to help achieve educational goals. Services related to social and cultural enrichment are also available, along with opportunities for sports and fitness activities.

We can provide information about school districts offering K-12 enrollment and education (as well as student services such as bus transportation and school lunches), as well as services pertaining to home schooling and family literacy.

Some agencies help students pay test or tuition fees, or gain access to no- or low-cost school uniforms, school supplies, and tutoring. Other resources, such as technical, vocational, and/or college level education, may help people start, advance or change a career. Those who did not receive a high school diploma may be able to receive help with preparing and/or paying for the GED.

Information and education on a variety of cultural, social and health issues may be provided through classes and workshops; some agencies may offer informed speakers who can give presentations on specific topics. Foreign language lessons and interpretation services may be available. There are also museums, theatre performances, and other services related to appreciating or participating in the arts, as well as outlets for recreation, sport and leisure activities.

2-1-1's Community Resource Navigation Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days to assist you in finding the best community resources to fit your needs.
